Hello! My name is Kallie Day. I was born in Carson City, Nevada, in 1986 and have lived in Nevada my entire life. I am proud to be Nevada-born.
I graduated from Dayton High School in Lyon County in 2006, where I discovered a love for music through a strong band program and a teacher who truly cared. That engagement helped me succeed in school, earn the Millennium Scholarship, and receive the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award. After graduation, I returned to volunteer with the color guard—a small way to give back to a place that had given me so much.
I continued my education at Western Nevada College, graduating in 2009 with my associate degree. After that, I continued taking classes while working full-time, pursuing subjects that sparked my interest and broadened my perspective.
Around that time, I began working at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada. I started as a homework room coordinator and later became the Teen Director. I had the privilege of working with an incredible group of students and truly loved the work.
I was later offered the opportunity to attend Sierra Nevada College, which I gladly accepted. I spent two years there learning from outstanding educators and challenging myself academically. I graduated in May 2014, magna cum laude, with my bachelor’s degree.
Looking back, I recognize that school was a stabilizing and defining force in my life. The compassion, encouragement, and presence of my teachers shaped my path in ways I didn’t fully understand at the time. Their support is a large part of why I care so deeply about ensuring today’s students have the same—or better—opportunities to succeed.
After graduating, I was fortunate to join Community Chest, Inc., a nonprofit organization serving Lyon and Storey Counties. Over the past 12 years, I have held multiple roles within the organization, all focused on supporting and strengthening our local communities.
Although I have lived in Lyon County for many years, my husband and I purchased our first home in District 6 near Sutro Elementary last year. We chose this neighborhood because we believe it is the right place to raise our son, who is now a second grader at Sutro. This past year has only reinforced that decision. The principal, teachers, and staff have been welcoming and supportive, further deepening my appreciation for this community.
I grew up here. I am raising my family here. I care deeply about this community and the people who call it home.
I am a registered nonpartisan voter. I believe politics have a place—but that place is not on a school board. This perspective allows me to approach issues thoughtfully and consider a wide range of viewpoints. As a current trustee, I bring both professional experience and firsthand understanding of the responsibilities and decisions facing our district.
Professionally, I have spent the past 12 years working for a nonprofit organization that serves Lyon and Storey Counties. I began as a Case Manager for the Comstock Works Program, helping young adults ages 18–24 return to school or earn a GED through what became the G.A.M.E. (Guidance through Academics, Mentoring, and Education) Program. Through this work, I provided educational support, mentoring, and job placement opportunities—and had the privilege of watching students walk across the stage who never thought they would.
Today, I serve as the organization’s Chief Financial Officer, where I oversee budgeting, human resources, program development, and strategic planning. This role has strengthened my ability to make sound, informed decisions, work collaboratively, and keep people at the center of every choice.
I believe the role of a trustee goes beyond policies and budgets—though both are critically important. It also requires advocacy, clear communication, and strong connections within the community.
Each town in Lyon County is unique, and each deserves to be heard and represented. I value collaboration, lead with authenticity, and approach challenges with openness and a solutions-focused mindset.
In a time when so much feels divided, I believe we can all agree on one thing: our students deserve the best education possible. I am committed to supporting the students, families, and educators who make up our district—and to ensuring that the decisions made at the board level reflect both care and accountability.

Since my appointment in October 2025, I have been fully engaged in the work of the School Board—learning, participating, and contributing at every opportunity.
My involvement includes:
I have made it a priority to listen—to staff, families, and community members—to better understand the challenges and opportunities across Lyon County. I value the work of this role and remain focused on service, not politics.
Current priorities include:
I am committed to staying informed, accessible, and focused on the outcomes that matter most for our students and community. I am always open to conversations about how we, as a community and as a district, can move forward.
